Hi all
New to Forum and got my new micro 355 on Monday . I shot it at the shop and have the speed results. 400 grain bolt was 327 FPS and a 350 grain bolt was 345 FPS. Still need to work on sighting it in, hope this weekend. looking for some input, I will be hunting Elk and Mule Deer here in Wyoming and was look at using 350 grain bolt (100 grain Rage broad head) I have had good luck with the Rage. Has anyone had any issues with using a 350 grain bolt? Main question would be accuracy.
Hi and welcome to the forum. If accuracy is your main priority, and you're correct that it should be, go with the heavier point weight. I think a 400gr arrow is a good choice and I think you'll find you'll get much tighter groups with the heavier arrow with the increased FOC which is critical with crossbows. Too little foc=reduced accuracy. Use whichever head you like but I would encourage you to consider some much more dependable and effective broadheads before Rage broadheads. Some here like them but the majority will agree that they've had bad experiences with them (myself included) and would recommend many others ahead of the rages. I haven't shot the Spitfire broadheads but I've never heard a negative report about them here. Many also love the FOC Broadheads and Schwackers. For fixed broadheads there are the Boltcutters, Slick Tricks, QAD Exodus, Toxics, Montecs, Magnus and many more. Big mulies and elk have a lot of dense muscle mass and heavy bones. I want a solid, bulletproof head that penetrates like heck and is deadly accurate at all ranges shot. Good luck in your search.

Welcome to the forum.
I also hunt mulies in Wyoming . I have a 355 Matrix my
buddies have Axioms. We use Rages and Swhakers on 400 grain arrows . As far as accuracy I can group 2 "all day long out to 50 yards off a rest. We use Blazer 2" fletch They have a lot less wind drift . As you know it's ALWAYS windy in Wyoming.

Welcome to the forum!! I'm sticking with the 150 grn boltcutters with my Matrix 350 for a 400 grn setup. There are endless possibilities!! Congrats on your new bow as well!!
Welcome to the forum!!
I also agree that you would be better off to stay around the 400ish grain arrow.
As for broad heads if you like mechanical's give the spitfire's a try...i've killed a boat load of critter's with them and excalibur's.

Congrats on your new bow and welcome to the forum. This is the best place for good info that I've found. I'm no expert and have had my xbox for about 9 mos.
Look up nchunterkw's bison hunt. He used Ramcats to take a bison. Results were very impressive. Like I said I'm not an expert and have no 1st hand knowledge. I'm going to try to give you the link, it's interesting and entertaining. http://excaliburcrossbow.com/phpBB2/vie ... =1&t=60541

Welcome to the forum. You have a great bow there but don't get caught up on speed when going for those bigger animals. I'd certainly stay above 400gr for the mulies and go even heavier for elk...even up to 500gr. The Gold Tip Nitros are the heaviest carbon arrow I have found and worked great on my bison this year.

Having taken a pretty nice 4x4 Roosevelt Bull last fall with a Matrix 355 in Sept. and a little later in November, taking a decent 3x4 Mulie with a 335 Micro I would comment that both were with arrow set-up's right at or slightly over 400 grains. Both were taken on spot and stalk hunt's.
I never did find the arrow that went thru the Mulie. Maybe I'll loocate it next year.
Rest assured you have plenty of bow. Best of luck this comming season.

Welcome to the Forum n congrats on yer real fine Micro model. Like the rest i like at least a 400gr arrow, but i do have some i was donated that falle jus abit shorter in weight than that
We learned lessons using any arrow at 350 gr area on hortons etc..The limbs cracked..For big game like you are after and again no expert on crossbows I would use heavy arrow but for me light arrow may crack my limbs and I am not taking chance so I use around 400/420 grs on my whitetail bucks...Makes bows a little more quiet too..
Welcome aboard,, fine bow ya chose there,,, enjoy, I am with everyone else, you'll be much happier if'n smooth accurate and consistent results are yer goal with the arrows 400 grain and better,,, been my results anyways!
Enjoy, and stop in often, lots of folks on here been there, and been doin that fer a long time, and they're all willing to share their experience!!
