New Matrix405 string

Post by cmarcum »

My new bow came with the string really smashing into the sound dampers. Is this correct for this bow. There are no marks on the rail for string position like my older Excalibur has on it.

Congrats on your new bow.. :)

No the string should not be buried in the REDS. Assuming you have a stringer, twist the string up until at least an 1/8" off the suppressors. Me personally I would twist it up til you are a 1/2" away from the REDS as the new string will continue to stretch... Keep an eye on your brace height. If I remember correctly when I had my 405, I kept the string between 3/4"-1" off the riser to rail joint...

Ok, I thought as much. wonder why they sent it so loose? Its a lot different restringing the bow that has anti-dry fire mech. My previous bow did not have that. I bought the crank and used it. How do you deal with this?

If I buy a high performance string, how long should it be? I have a flemish string new in box, I could use.

The string was set at BH when it was installed on yer model. Its the material the string was made of, they tend to stretch alot when new. If'en yer new flemish is an Excal option is is made from same material n will stretch like a rubber band fer a while

Set the string 1/2" off of the bumpers, take a few short distance shots, and reset it if needed until you get the stretch out. It will be fine as long as it is not kinked up when tight on the bow!
