season end crossbow put away???

I have just bought my first crossbow, the matrix 380. When my archery season is over for me, I was wondering if removing the string is what should be done to remove all limb stress, or put the string changer on ,an leave it slightly cocked in the wrist notch, greatly reducing the stress. What is the best way most of you guys address this at years end???..........sonny

X2 Some of my bows have been strung for 10 years or more!

If you don't intend to shoot it, take string off. Disapator pads (air brakes) will survive longer if you back the screws off to remove pressure - that is if you have them installed.

I leave mine on year round but leave the cocking rope on so that the string won't reach the bumpers if it stretch's

At the end of the Michigan deer season (dec) I remove the string from my M380 and store it in the case. Did the same with my Exomax when I owned it. From reading here I understand that there is probably no reason to remove the string but I personally feel better removing it while its stored for several months until the late summer months. Just a personal choice with no scientific backing...lol
