Questions about my new to me Matrix 405

Post by bobbythehunter »

Greetings

Just purchased my third Excalibur crossbow. Started with an Exomax, traded up to an Equinox and just traded up to a Matrix 405. Something I never noticed before on y older bows, but I noticed that if i put slight downward or upward pressure on my scope the whole action moves? Everything, scope, mount, arrow holder, even my trigger moves slightly? Is this correct? My buddies Matrix seems to move the same way but his trigger doesn't move. Can anyone help me with this? Is something loose? Thank you. Also it appears that when I sight in for 20 yards using the first reticle then move out to 40, the 40 yard reticle is not on target. I'm hitting high at 40 using the 40 yard reticle. Any suggestions? Thanks again.

Remove you stock screws and check the two trigger unit to mainframe screws. The scope mount is attached to your trigger unit and if the two screws attaching the trigger unit to mainframe are loose then you will experience the movement you describe.

Once you remove your stock and turn your mainframe upside down, tighten the two screws front and rear of the trigger lever.

dont know how theyd do it but one thing on my wish list of Excal improvements would be to have rail and scope base trigger unit as one.at least have steel threaded inserts on the 2 trigger mount screw holes and the 4 scope base mount holes so the screws can be torqued nicely.

I would recheck you POI and if you are still high at 40 then turn your speed ring up slightly.
Careful not to strip the two stock to mainframe screws on reassembly.
