The 2016 moose hunt in Quebec lasted 5 min. I arrived at my stand at 5h40 AM opening day. Not even 5 min. after, I hear a moose walking near by (Cracking branches). I call once, he responded right away. He kept calling every 5-10 sec. I kept looking at my watch since I was only allow to shoot at 5h58am. The buck showed himself at 6h00am at around 70 yards. He then start walking toward me. At 25 yards, he stopped and present the perfect broadside shot. I aim and make the shot, but forget to remove the safe

. I quickly remove the safe, doing so the moose turn is head toward me (he heard the click). I assume at the time of the shoot he was still broadside but he not only turn is head but also is body toward me a little. So I aim at the leg 1/3 up from the belly and let my arrow fly. I am shooting a 1st gen Micro 335 with custom ZS using 100gr Ramcat. The moose took off after the shot.
We wait 1 hour, then start looking for the moose. He only went 25 yard from where he was shot, then collapse. It turns out the arrow went in just beside the shoulder plate then continue between 2 ribs and exit on the other side between 2 ribs. Double lung + heart. Those Ramcat are amazing.
It was almost to fast
