Matrix 330 and bolt questions.

Post by Square_hammer »

Hi guys, I recently got my first crossbow a matrix 330. Right now I'm shooting the 18" Diablo bolt with lumenoc and rage extreme 125gn. I traded my compound for the matrix and this is the setup the first guy had. I have always been a fixed bh guy when I had my compound. I was thinking about switching arrows and bh for next season. I liked the qad exodus with my compound and was thinking about trying them with the crossbow. Any first hand results with the exodus and the m330? Also I don't like the way my bolt sticks past the stirrup, am I able to run a shorter bolt, with insert for weight, or do I need to stick with the 18's? Also is there any benefit to the bolt being past the stirrup? Hope my ramblings make sense. Thanks
Jesse

Im not saying the 125 grain head wont work but the excalibur bolts you are shooting were designed for a 150 grain head your really not getting the "proper" foc with a125 grain . Most of us here shoot a carbon arrow with a 80 to 110 grain brass insert then a 100 or 125 grain head. The bolts your using only have about a 30 grain insert thats what the need for the heavier head is. As said a 125 will work but personally i would shoot a 150 grain and up .at 30 yards and over the heavier head will shine. Cabellas also sells a good 150 grain fixed crossbow head.Yes you can wack your bolts down to 16 or 17 in and use a .300 brass insert. I would get a 92 or 110 grain . With a 100 or 125 gr head Jerry at southshore archery in fla. Can get you these inserts there cheap. Lbj. Ps I have a m330 i shoot a 17 in zombie with a 110 brass and 125 head i love the way they fly

Thanks lbj, is there any benefit to the shorter bolt with an insert? Also what is the difference in the zombie slayers and the executioners? Also which bh are you using on those 17" zombies? Also why is the total weight on those? I wouldn't mind being 400 to 450 ish

I'm using Zombie Slayer's at 17" with 92 grain brass inserts, and 100 grain Exodus heads, they fly great.

My 17 in. Zombies with a 110 insert and a 125 grain head are about 435 grains. I have found the slightly heavier 125 to shoot a tad better down range in a windy not so perfect day.I used a fixed blade in my longbows n recurves for years .but the spitfire has been a no brainer for me.It flys like a fieldpoint from all 5 bows and has the cutting diameter of a rothaar snuffer fixed blade i have killed a lot of deer and turkeys with them.you know how broadheads go once you have confidence in one they have you hooked.by the way i have faster bows but if i only had one the 330 would be my first pick . El dependo bow !

I shoot the matrix 330 and Diablo arrows that came with it I also shoot 125 grain Fixed Bh With No problem . You Don't need to shoot 150 grain Bh . The XBow can and will shoot and anything from 100 to what ever wt you want . Excalibur states nothing under 350 grain total wt should be shot .

With plastic rear nocks, and 100 grain heads, around 370 total weight.
