As Anthony says your best sound suppressor is a pair of ear plugs! The only thing on earth the sound of xbow going off bothers is the person holding it perhaps. I've arrowed a lot of critters with Excaliburs and seen many more arrowed and I can say that Never has anyone said critter heard bow going off and jumped string, Never. I'd buy into that claim if shooting 60+ yards maybe a whitetail on alert might jump it, maybe.
I'm all for cutting vibration to help limbs but for sound deadening I think one is wasting money and adding weight - in my opinion of course.

I agree a crossbow will never be totally silenced but the efforts to do so can help extend the life of the bow. Vibration is mechanical and can cause damage ir at min loosening of components.
I feel its worth it.
