Well its been a crazy yet fun season

We had a visitor from the tarheel state however he really is a keystoner and he successfully wacked a nice 11/2 year old 7 pt. we did not have much movement while he was here as its was fairly warm for Wisconsin. Then a week later my son shot a real nice 21/2 year old 9pt. with a split G2 then things went extremely quiet again until this past Halloween week. I was setting in my stand for an evening hunt and watched a real nice 10pt. Herding a doe in my marsh for over an hour never came within 100yds

however, the next morning got a call on the radio from my bride her first day out saying I shot a big one come help. She was using Thor so I was not out just hanging around the coffee pot. Her buck was the same one I watched the night before he scored a little over 140.
Now we have four cameras out on our little 40 acres and neither of these three buck are on our cameras .
I decided early on that I was after one of 2 bucks we have had multiple pic's of 1 an nice 10pt with a 3 inches drop tine and the other a real nice symmetrical 8pt so over the past week I have watched multiple bucks walk bye and never an eye on either big buck I was after except at night on the cameras., This morning I got setup and at 5:45 am I watched what had to be a big yeti walk by it just had to be as it was big and Hairy and all brown

but at 10 after 6 am I saw a doe move into the wood strip and act weird then I saw him the nice 8pt following her, then they disappeared, another 10 minutes go by an by golly she is coming back and heading to a position directly behind me and here he comes followed by 2 small bucks . He now gets 20yds from me but is facing dead on looking right at me and I'm thinking with my 257 he would have already been dead,,, well he just stands there licking his nose and watching his girl friend while occasionally looking at the other bucks but he does not move so we wait each other out and finally as one of the other bucks approaches he decides to start turning I'm thinking as soon as you gets turned I'm letting Thor loose well I let her fly and realize he spun around pretty quick bad hit

He jumps and then just walks off toward the closest buck with my lumenok shinning brightly he stumbles and then runs out of sight. Wow, I am excited and worried about the hit. I wait 30 minutes smoke a cigar an have a cup of Joe. Finally I go look where I last saw him nothing no blood that I can see , so I get on the radio and call my tracker (bride) and tell her what happen and to get dressed because we got a buck to find. Well she comes out in the ranger and picks up the trail and into the marsh we go then back out then back in an I say are we sure we are not going in circles I get that look like no you dumb A$$ and finally she says here he is

125yd recovery.. Well the RamCat hit the last rib and lodged against the opposite hip somehow didn't hit anything but the liver and kidney. The back cut on the head just shredded him . I got real lucky with the bad hit as he must have turned faster than it looked as I let go. So its been a good season with 4 nice bucks all taken with original limbed vintage micros and RamCats and special Flemish strings. So now we are done with the bows for this year and hopefully we see the other buck next weekend with the rifle. The rut here and is in full bloom so get out good luck to all and slay a few
