the muzzleloader comes through
Thought I'd get the T/C Omega out and give it some use. Haven't killed a deer with it for a few years, as I've been filling all my tags with the Excalibur
Luckily Ohio added a third tag in the area next to me this year, so I loaded up the Omega and took off early this morning. I'd hunted a couple of days in the early MZ season in Shawnee Forrest last month, so I had a good idea of where to look. Well, just after legal shooting time out walked a doe at about 80 yards, and with thoughts of my nearly empty freezer at home I put the crosshairs on her front shoulder and squeezed the trigger sending a 300 grain Barnes MZ on it's way. When the smoke cleared I had a gut & drag job ahead, but now she's hanging in the processor's cooler
Now, one more tag and no buck yet, so..............

Thanks all
Woody - the camo stock definately looks great on the Omega and the doe never saw me, so it must work
The muzzleloader will definately reach out and touch them. I've benched it out to 200 yards in 25 yard intervals, and wouldn't be afraid to try one at 200 yards, but the Excalibur has me enjoying getting close these days. Actually, if I didn't want another one for the freezer I probably wouldn't have even gone out this week. But the first one I shot is 75% eaten already
We have 2 months of archery season left, and another MZ season in late December. I'd much rather go after the bucks with the Excalibur. Just outwitting one enough to get within bow range is more of a thrill than shooting one with a gun, and if I actually get a arrow into one........ well, that IS hunting!
