Crossbow importing laws...Can anybody help?

Post by Jamie »

Hi all,
I want to buy the Excalibur Maxim Crossbow. In England (where I live) its £475...I don't know how much this is in $'s. Anyway I found a store in Canada who will post to England and the overall cost including postage is £320. Although, I am wondering will the Brittish Customs allow it in? Can any of you help me?

Importing crossbow.

Post by Isis »

Jamie, the best way to find out is speak to the british customs.
That way you should at least get the right info.
Good luck.

I can't help you, but Normally there is a import charge and you maybe better off to buy it there. You should be able to contact some one over there (England) and be able to find out. Good Luck :!:

importing a crossbow ?

Post by C.J. »

Hi Guys,
I am what u guys would call a newbie to this forum,so go easy on me.
I live in the UK where all hunting with a bow is banned,so 3D is the nearest we get to popping those big ole white tail.
My current bow is a 200LB Exomag which was bought here in the UK from Bowsports,Excaliburs UK agent.
I was advised not to try importing one,as it firstly may not get through & secondly would'nt be financially viable.
As you guys keep saying these bows are the biz!

Hi, I imported all of my bows. You will pay a customs charge but its still cheaper to import.

One thing I should have said was you may get some good deals in the U.K and its always better to support your local businesses if you can, but sometimes they are just too expensive. I have got too know Dan Miller in the U.S.A quite well and he has given me allot of advise over the years so I guess I just support him.

Thanks y'all.
I will have to ring the customs office to be honest I am not sure why they wouldn't let it in because crossbow's arn't illegal in Britain and you don't need a license. Also I recieved my first crossbow through Brittish post (although the crossbow was bought from a Brittish website). I would go for Bowsports, that is where I get all of my archery sutff because it's really good but as soon as you click into the crossbows section...Woo, get's expensive there. Once again, thanks.

Hi Steven sorry just re-read your message. How much is the customs charge and how do you get about paying them? Also, how do you know that you need to pay them?

Sorry, re-worded last line wrong, by that I meant do they send you a letter or something to alert you that you need to pay them?
