lighted knock question

Post by bobcat »

i see alot of guys using lighted nocks. i shoot the stock quills and like being able to just buy a 6 pack of them and they are plenty accurate for my needs. i know they sell quills with lighted knocks already on and you can go the custom arrow route or some guys even remove the stock aluminum knocks from the factory excal arrows and install their own.........

all that being said why doesn't Excalibur or anyone else just make a lighted knock that will screw into the back of the threaded aluminum knocks that are already on the factory arrows? seems like a simple plug and play solution and a marketing miss.....

its a front of center issue. if you add weight to the back of the arrow it changes things. dont know how much it matters with a 150gr. front tip.

right but any lighted knock adds weight to the back but i guess it would be more because you would just be adding and not replacing.

but if they came in a pack with an adapter that screwed on the front end that weighed the same as the lighted nock going on the back it should balance things out.
you could shoot targets when ever with your stock arrows then come hunting season screw on the nocks and adapters and rezero go hunt. wish i was a machinist.... :D

ARe the factory nocks glued in? I thought they were not. It's easy to replace them with a luminok or NuFletch Igniter.

I know the ones that came with my Excal 350 are glued in tight.

I would think any that are threaded for a puller, which you would need for a thread-in lighted knock, would be glued in solid for pulling the bolt.

I found a couple of strips of reflective tape or reflective paint to be a far more dependable and effective solution. It really sucks if the lights don't work or your arrow snaps.

Ya the stock nocks with the threaded holes are glued in TIGHT. which i like because it makes pulling arrows so much easier.

ferguson...
Does that paint stay on and lay flat? as in it wont be rubbing off going down the rail or making a mess on the bow?

I'm new to all this crossbow stuff but I learn and adapt like a Velociraptor. I lost several monster racks this season in my learning curve.

Cabelas makes this reflective trail marker spray stuff that ain't a forever thing.

The other stuff goes on and stays great for me so far this first crossbow season. Its like it ain't there in my opinion. I wipe my rails with a silicon so I haven't noticed any significant wear to the product on the bolt but it likely would be long lasting regardless. I wiped my bolts with a papertowel and alcohol before I sprayed. Just did a half-butt coat on the initial few but it works good.

This is one of those products that work better at a few yards distance in front of your light instead of right on top of it BUT, that depends on how bright your light is. Seems like a dimmer light works better at close range (inside three yards)

Its just an alternative, don't know if there is a perfect system.
