New guy with some questions

Post by Pharcta2 »

Howdy all. I just ordered a Matrix 350LE from Al Flahery's, then headed over to Wyverns for some Danny miller bumpers and stringer, plus an ADF, crank, DRStirrup, and lube. Just ordered some FF+ strings as well from this board.

I need a case, but I read somewhere the Excal Matrix case doesn't zip with the DRStirrup, so looking for suggestions.

Broadheads and more bolts are needed, but I'll have to wait until next payday for those.

Plan is for a turkey hunt in April, so I'll need to get some practice in. I'm also starting to look at rests for in the blind.

So what am I missing? I'm a complete newbie to this, and will likely be bugging y'all with a ton of questions on setup, preferences, etc.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum. One of the best things you can do for yourself before you start is google crossbow hand injuries. That way you see what can happen if you're not careful. Now that that's out of the way, YOU'RE GONNA HAVE A BLAST! :D
Happy shootin,
Hank

Sounds like you're going in the right direction. Watch the instructional videos a few times, and although the models may be different in the videos, everything is pretty much the same. When you hit the range, you'll know what you're doing, and have a much better experience.

Congrats on the new bow you sure got a good un. After going over the instructional videos and what not , start shootin that baby and gettin familiar with it and develop a routine( engaging safety soon as u cock it and so forth) Soon it'll be second nature. Have a blast. Good luck.

I have a Matrix 380 with the full Dr Stirrup kit including the stirrup and it fits in my Matrix Tombstone case and zips closed ok.

For arrows/bolts I recommend the Black Eagle Zombie 18" crossbow version, either .001 or .003 (straightness) will do (hardly any noticeable difference).

Broadheads are always hotly debated and personal preference.

Other than I think you've got it covered for starters.
