Expandable broad head question.

Post by BrotherRon »

I used the 100 grain 2 blade chisel tips last year with good results from my 310 last year and was planning on using the 125 grain 3 blade chisel tips with my 330 this year. My question is would I have enough penetration with the 310 to open these blades on impact and still get good penetration with my 310? Or should I only use them with the 330 and stay with the 100 grain 2 blade for the 310? Total arrow weight with the 125 grain broad heads is 426 grain.

Thanks.
Ron.

What is your total arrow weight? I shoot a 440 grainer with 100 grain spitfires from my 330. It rolls along at 309 fps and I have shot completely through everything I have taken with this set up.

You should be fine ,with a heavy arrow you will be looking in the weeds for it after the shot.

I shot this doe this morning with a Rage Hypodermic 125 grain 2.3" cut head with a total weight of 450 grains. It opened up great out of my M-350 and passed through exiting just in front of her offside rear leg. She only went 50 yards.

LATELY in one way I am not fan of expandable points ..
here is why yes they take a novice and I feel makes them fairly good shot..
BUT that same person does not wait for broadside shot

So you have person that can shoot better with them you would think that would be great but its not...When I heard 1 person wound 3 doe,yes 3 doe with the spitfires I told him to get it makes you think what the h is happening..

They are taking bad shots ,moving deer, angle shots ,not placing their face on the bow ,pulling triggers on and on..

When they take angle shot it is just GASTLY

Shocking isnt it but this type of hunter they see fur and let it fly...

People like them give hunters a bad name and leave deer suffering until they die or recover.
That is also the main reason I limit myself to the yardage I will shoot a deer at.
The farther you shoot the more things can go wrong!
