FINALLY!!!

Post by ThunderXB »

After two years of hunting with a crossbow (my Excals), having my 78 year old friend score TWICE on deer using MY 380, and never shooting anything myself, I finally connected tonight.

Just not what I would have thought.

I had a WI fall turkey permit and had a nice gobbler unexpectedly walk into me right at 30 yds and I dropped him in his tracks with my BD400.

Had 2 beards 8" & 10", 7/8 spurs and easily over 20 lbs.

Just in time for Thanksgiving!

The spitfire and BE Zombie were impressive, at 30 yds I almost took his head clean off.

What was interesting is that I was bummed out when I couldn't find the arrow (#2 blue, my most accurate arrow) but once it got dark and I stood up from my ground blind, I could see the HD Orange Lumenoc over a slight rise in the field glowing brightly 50-60 yds behind where I shot the bird.

I honestly believe I could see that Lumenoc from 1/4 mile away easy. I was astounded how bright it was glowing out in the field.

Congrats for sure a fall turkey is a great bonus, some like the head chopper turkey heads but the spitfire and the wider cut maxx have been really good to me taking numerous spring turkeys with them many go no further than 10 yards.

Congrats on finally breaking in your 'baby' Rich. I'm confident this is just the beginning. Great shooting at such a small target! :D

Nice job on the Gobbler!

It's also a reminder for us hunters to always be aware of what is beyond your target.
