Matrix 380 speed
What speed should I be getting out of my matrix 380 when using a 400 grain arrow?..
I shoot the excal diablos with a 150 grain tip 400-403 grains

Re: Matrix 380 speed
Approximate speed would be 363 fps. It would be weight over 350 grains divided by 3. That value subtracted from 380. It is an approximation that is close at best, always wise to use a 350 grain arrow for testing purposes.
Hope that helps.

I'm at 363 with one 380 and 367 with another.. both shooting the same arrow that weighs 428 grains... also brace height will play with the numbers a tiny little bit..

Re: Matrix 380 speed
This is tremendous speed with that weight of arrow. Limbs will have varying deflection and brace height and string weight are also contributing factors. Generally, you will be in the 360fps ballpark give or take a few feet.GrassyKnoll wrote: ↑Wed Sep 19, 2018 9:11 amI'm at 363 with one 380 and 367 with another.. both shooting the same arrow that weighs 428 grains... also brace height will play with the numbers a tiny little bit..

Re: Matrix 380 speed
shooting my bd400 yesterday with a 367gr arrow speed was 384. Flemish string,59 limbs & gen 1 micro riser. I have a factory el zombie green string if I use that it will shoot 390. bows bare no dodads. no way will a bd400 shoot 400fps out of the box you need a cronograph and alot of shooting time.. diablo, lighted nock & 100gr swacker..

Re: Matrix 380 speed
The 380 that shoots the 363 is sporting a Danny Miller flemish string and the other one is from parts that I put together that I've bought on the forums... It sports an Excalibur string and an original front end, maybe where the extra speed is coming from.. Either way they are keeperspaulaboutform wrote: ↑Thu Sep 20, 2018 12:10 amThis is tremendous speed with that weight of arrow. Re: Matrix 380 speed
I would think you would have to take into account the riser your 380 is using.
Lately Excal has been modifing many of the origional 380 " swept forward " risers and re-maching the outer 5/8" - 3/4" of the limb pocket into risers that are not as swept forward as in the past ( a bit like the gen I risers compared to the Gen II's we see in the micro line ).
In talking with Danny miller ( who will soon be replacing my original 380 riser with one modified by Excalibur ) I was told that because of the limb angle differance I will see a slight drop in arrow speed. But would end up with a riser designed to be more forgiving stress wise.
I'm good with the trade off, as I want confidence and dependability in my equipment and rate speed in excess of 350 as overkill for the deer and elk I have harvested with Xbows so far. (IMO 300 fps will easily "Get Ur Done" )

Re: Matrix 380 speed
im figuring Excalibur dose not assemble these bow and shoot them through a cronograph before shipping them out. must be most dont know what there bows shooting so who cares . you should get what your paying for not a high end bow that's needs to be reworked. my case bd400 shooting 367fps even after the whole bow was sent in came back shooting 373fps plus it still had the same 10lb trigger. fixed it myself with tt trigger, another set of limbs and riser now shooting 405-407fps.that like buying a corvette and having the dealer put a 6 cylinder in it and saying gee that great I love it.
Re: Matrix 380 speed
Variations will be caused by braceheight, the string and sound deadening thingies put on the limbs or string.
