Lately there seems to be a lot of xbow threads on the net. Both ArcheryTalk and the Bowsite are running debates.
I know I am asking a stupid question..but let's pretend archery season was xbows and stickbows. With xbows in the huge majority-would anyone here object to allowing compound bowhunters in? I know the answer-but still would appreciate imput.
Xbow threads on the net..
Being from Ontario and fairly new to archery I had never run into this debate until I became a member of this forum. I really don't understand the problem. Digger posted a picture of his compound the other day and man that thing doesn't look to "traditional" to me. This entire debate is about greed. It's that simple.
That's not a dumb question Doug, its actually super. Sometimes I feel I'm from another planet, and was accidentally dropped here by my alien, kinship.
What ta hell is the difference with what sort of bow, gun, muzzleloader, or any other weapon for that matter, does it make. The last time I checked this whole darn continent is over run with deer.
Buy a licence and go shoot a deer, period. This whole debate on weather Xbows have a place,in the archery season is ridiculous. On our property we have record amounts of deer, and a record amount of hunters getting out of the sport. We've got several areas with CWD disease because of the over abundance of deer. We need hunters, they have their purpose in the circle of life, no matter what weapon they chose.
To answer your question, yes I would invite compound bows in with open arms.

I have made it sort of a hobby to study the psychosis that causes people to enlist in the Cult of the Selfish and bash crossbows.
1) the lack of confidence syndrome-this comes from the vertical bow hunters who are worried that someone can go by a Horton and "out hunt" them, this makes up about half of the cult
2) the macho nonsense-this is the other strain of the disease. These people think that deerhunting is a right only of those who eat sleep and pee archery and then go into contortions to prove how many hours they have to practice to hit bambi
a version of #2 is the self esteem challenged types. like the closet queens who try to prove they are tough guys by bashing gays, these people bash xbows trying to prove they are the ultimate nimrods.
most of these people are pathetic losers and all you have to do is go to www.bowsite.com to see how shallow the gene pool runs with some of these.
most are being told by wiser members that claiming xbows are guns just won't cut it and the PBS nonsense is only going to backfire. Most are still stuck on the "drawing in the presence of game" crappola that has been obliterated by the statistics from Ohio etc.
One day we will decide if these clowns should be able to hunt unless they can pass a proficiency test-many of them can't and believe me, every politician I have spoken to prefers an accurate bow over something that its user brays is tough to shoot
"the missing is cool" faction of bowhunters is going to hurt the rest of us BTW
