STUBBY ARROWS

Post by BOB VANDRISH »

Just happened to be looking around at various archery sites last night, and came across an arrow(bolt) that was about six inches long, and the cutting blades were the fletching on the bolt.
The front looked like it was a sharpened field point
Has anyone ever experimented with this concept?
If it would fly without touching the sides,it may be an interesting approach,as you certainly wouldn't have to worry about broadhead alignment!!
It came from a historical site on medieval archery.
Any comments?
Bob.

I did not save it,so the only way I may be able to find it again would be to go through my history files.
If I find it,I will post it later.

Digger, that's awful close, except the vanes(that were blades),were about half the length in your diagram, and looked just like a regular fixed blade, tapered right out to the end, just like today's blades.
The head is the same.
