I've been watching my cell cams and from what I saw, turkeys were predominately visiting my hunting property mid afternoon. So I packed up and left the house at 12:40 pm. I drove in, booted out 2 birds and dumped all my things and set up, parked my truck and walked back. I was set up by 1:30. In about 45 minutes in comes a gobbler and 2 hens out of range. The gobbler was fanning and responding to my calls but would not leave the hens. They worked their way away from me and then another gobbler showed up and they got into a scuffle with some spurring and one chased the other away. Meantime the hens walked away and the gobbler ended up about 120 yards away from me. So he walked casually towards my deeks and at 50 yards decided to avoid my 2 hen and 2 tom set up. Pecking and scratching, all puffed up and fanning got him to 35 yards and I put the ghost sights on his head and let him have a 20 gauge load of Federal 3D Heavyweight TSS load. I was amazed that he didn't flop, jump or run. He just stood there, steady and motionless! So like an idiot I let him have another which make his head twitch a tad. So not understanding what the heck was going on, I jacked in another shell and put another in the tube. I walked up and the video shows you the rest. It just flapped a bit and not much else! It had a few pellets in the neck and head as well as on larger pellet in the leg. Twenty two pounds, 1" spurs and an 8" beard.
There are 2 videos (not of the kill) at the bottom for anyone caring to see.
A touch of frost has heightened your awareness and your heart steadily beats in anticipation. Your senses are suddenly alert to the movement on the forest floor and you realize that the moment of truth is at hand.
I've had them drop and never move a feather, but nothing like that.

Wow that's crazy. So it was basically standing there dead, did I see that right?
It was opening and closing it's beak and again, it had a few pellets to the head and neck. What you can't see that I did was the offside eye was bulged out. If it was alive, it wasn't very alive. Crazy!
Here's something else cool. I saw this blind for sale at just over $100 on Amazon (the price is back up now). It's a square hub blind that has 3 see through panels. It has a blackened panel for the entry zipper and a solid roof. I have not tried it on a windy rain day but it works well. The turkey didn't make me at 35 yards even with me getting up and repositioning my chair for the shot!
"Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end."
Congratulations Don!!! That's awesome. We have 2 of them blinds they are a bargain for the money.
Had 2 Jake's this morning and 3 nice gobblers later in the morning but just couldn't compete with a real hen.
I could have easily done it with a shotgun but l was just uncomfortable with the crossbow mainly with the vegetation in the way
Anyway now I'm gonna take a 2 hour nap and l got no turkey to clean ...all good.
