Deer skin condition?

Post by DuckHunt »

Yesterday I had a bachelor group stroll past one of my cameras. It's looking like I'll have plenty of antlers to chase this season. One of the bucks appears to have some sort of color anomaly. I've never seen one with it, but I've read that is it possible for a deer to have mange. There are also some other hereditary things that can cause other colors. If you saw the buck alone, he may just look a little lighter, but you can really see the difference when he's standing next to another buck.

He is probably just shedding his winter coat late.

I've seen this a bunch of times. Usually has to do with shedding as Robert said.
Some shed quicker than others.
I've seen them walking around with huge patches of different colored hair. It's all about the shed.

Yep, shedding seasonal coats. Will look very different come September.
