turkey hunt preferred setupbroadhead vs.broadhead plus
I was just looking for feedback on the topic of broadheads on their own versus broadheads plus snubbers, grapplers, etc for turkey hunting. What do you guys use and have you had good success with your setup. Thank you for any and all feedback.
broadheads
I have shot most of my turkeys by crossbow while out deer hunting during archery season. The fall turkey season overlaps with deer archery here so that is legal here. Because I am mainly deer hunting my set-up is for deer which has been a carbon bolt and muzzy 100gr 4 blade heads. I have never lost a turkey but they usally run a short distance and fall over. I had one fly straight up maybe 100 yards high and expire and it made a big thump when he fell to the ground. I am going to try some of the NAP turkey spitfires this week for the first time I will see how they do if I get lucky and get to fire one at a tom . I had several guys at the local bow shop talk me into giving them a try after hearing their sucess stories on turkeys they have shot with them. They all said the arrow stays in the bird much better and the birds normally drop within a few feet of impact making loss of a bird much less common.
