sorry it is not with my Excal! It's Excal from here on in!!
That's the way I felt, too........ until my wife deep fried a mess of breast fillets  I figured out real quick they taste just as good with a load of shot to the head, and they aren't exactly the easiest critter to hunt, anyway!
A hearty CONGRATULATIONS on a good clean kill with the legal weapon of your choice! And if you nail one with the Excal - you can be extra proud, they aren't easy to get close to, and a bow or shotgun takes a lot of skill (and in my case a healthy dose of LUCK!!!).

Thanks all.....I do feel a little bad though about the harvest! I had really hoped that my buddy would have been the shooter! I had set him up in the spot where I thought the birds would be......but they proved me wrong and bed down behind me!

There's a flock of about 30 birds out at the property with several half decent Toms so with any luck I can get a crack at one of them with my Excal...but then again I am quite content with the one we already have in the freezer!

A question or two for those who have been chasing "old big toe" around for a few years:

1) I skinned the Tom this time around and I was wondering can I still cook him the traditional way?

2) Does anyone have any links and/or info as to how I prepare my fan for mount? I have both last years Jake and this Tom's fan in my freezer?

Here is a pic from one of my other mornings out....this little fella landed on my knee to help himself to some of my wife's homeade buttertart!

Congrats, looks like he is quite a trophy, or at least one heck of a meal.

Yeah, I know I'm a little late on this one...

WTG!... Sounds like you had a great hunt... Great pics and story too!

A big congrats goes out to you on a job well done, Sandman.

Even though you didn't shoot it with the Excalibur doesn't take anything away from your success.... :D

take care and stay safe!...
