Tightening Broadheads

Post by Galgo »

Hi Guys.

Wondering if you have any suggestions on the best way to tighten your brioadheads onto the bolt w/o damaging them or undertightening. I'm just using pliers and I either don't get a good enough grip or I have to grip the the carving of the tip. Any suggestions or trade secrets out there? Apprecite it.

P.s. Using Boss Wasp's or Gold Tip carbons if that matters

I usually just put the broadhead on finger tight and check it periodically.

You may want to get one of these.

Thanks AW. Wow finger tight eh? Mine come loose after 2 or 3 shots after tightening them with a wrench

Has anyone used one of these wrenches? Looks like it applies the force to the blades but maybe it spreads it out to the tip as well.

The broadhead wrench is good I have one. But if you want to keep them from comming loose put a small (key word small) amount of bow string wax on the threads of the insert. It will keep them tight. In the cold weather you will have to warm up your bolts to remove the broadheads. Works on field tips also.

I learned the trick from an old recurve shooter up in Grayling, Michigan.

Most pro shops have broadhead wrenchs by the dozens lying around and they hand them out to me every time I by broadheads. Their are eight slots in it to tighten almost every blade combo.

i light a candle ,dip the brodheads& practise heads in melted wax, they will screw on snug, wont rust, wont set up too tight, just tighten them finger tight they wont come loose. just dip the threads, not the whole brodhead, although you could just good protection.,,,works for me.
