Bear and deer feeder
Tar heel:
Mighty fine pictures. I really like the Bear photo"s.
Garyl asks: What do you figure it weighs? I only hunt Deer and Bear in the large game catagory, I am not an expert by any means, however if I had to guess at he size I would look at the spread of the front legs(girth) and large snout ,well defined head, front view. Side view shows a long neck reaching for the ground with ground clearance under the stomach. I would guess probably 250-300lbs. Hard to really tell unless you get close for a shot. When I stalk them I get to within 50 yds. then decide if I want that one or not. If yes then I stalk till 30 yds. for the shot with crossbow. Very easy to guess the weight at that range. But that is a good size Bear no doubt.
Any one else going to guess?

I see allot of bears here were I live for we have a really high bear population on the island. One of the ways to judge the size of the bear is if the ears look to small for the size of the head then it is a really big bear and if the ears look big then it is a smaller bear. So John I also think that the bear weighs around 250 to 300 pounds.

Maritimer:
I also use the ears to judge size , that is good for a couple of answers.
I used to live in Nanaimo, on St. George St. where the Ferry comes in.
Spent time running the bush to. I really enjoy hunting Bear, but not for Trophy, for food and sport, very exciting getting up close to those animals.
I think the bear may go 275 but by picture alone, difficult to say. It isn"t very old though.
Anyone else guessing?

Ive baited bears for a few years and by looking at the picture and seeing how low his belly is to ground and his head being short blocky and ears short and fairly wide apart he is well into the 300 lb mark wich is a dandy size for a blacky. If you measure the front foot pad on the ground width wise you can get a good idea of weight. If the foot print is 5 inches across or wider your deffinatly into a trophy class bear. and there really good eatin as well. I like it better then moose.

Shifty:
The ears are large and more on top of the head than they are spaced apart. It does have a good belly though but not much length.
I am looking at about thirty to forty bear pictures with me now of different age weight and length, I still won"t go over 300. So far they all taste roughly the same, excellent!
Glad to hear of more Bear hunters on here.

That baby"s got one big head(the black one on the ground) :lol
This time someone else can start the bidding, looks like enough for the freezer though. Where are these Bear shots being taken? Roughly?
What was it taken with?
Beauty Bear guys!

Tar Heel:
Like I said, a Brute for sure. I hunt them with a custom built 870 rem.
and Crossbow.
I have some pictures to, no idea yet how to get them from photobucket to the forum. Currently reviewing Woody"s method, but I"m slow on learning new computer crap!

Nice pictures Tar Heel, that is one fine looking bear. That is a nice deer also, your brother did not need to cover his face , I would be proud of that one.
