additional Deer Seal success

Post by fdegurse »

Wow, phone lines were packed this morning, I should have stayed up till midnight last night. Got my additional seal for 92 for archery and I hunt farmer/landowner in 93a and in the controlled shot gun hunt 93a.

Do you guys read the pamphlet the same as I do. In the exceptions area I can finally apply Oct 17 for an extra contrlled hunt validation tag in 92(A) for the muzzleloader hunt. Farmer/landowners were restriced in previous years to only one controlled hunt WMU. Am I reading correctly when combining both reg sections?.. If I am I can go shopping.

For moose I will be, maybe I'll give it a shot for deer there too as I've seen nice big deer in them woods while moose hunting. But most of my deer hunting will be done on the woodlot ...

P.S. Sorry about that, fdegurse.

I didn't mean to hijack your thread..

It seems the extra tags/seal have been a big success for the MNR and by looking at the quotas there are a lot of deer to hunt.

To any of the farmer/landowner guys., In the "exceptions" area of the pamphlet, extra controlled hunt applications are available Oct 17th. We used to only be able to apply to one controlled hunt in total across the province the way I've always read it or heard.

Is this correct?

John, you said you got additional tags. I understood we were restricted to one additional tag at this time, and that we could apply for more from August 22 - 31.

:x What a nightmare! I finally got through after trying from 7 until 10am with a request for area 65 only to receive the message something like 'you already have a tag allocated for that WMU for your wildlife card' (I don't remember the EXACT wording).

Of course, this message makes absolutely no sense because it's for the Additional game seal.

I called MNR and they said that they were having some difficulties with the system. They took my contact info down and were to get back to me, but I have yet to hear from them.

I'm not gonna be too happy if I miss out because of a system error   after trying all morning.

Anyone else encounter this today?

Chris,

As much of a pain it could be if I were you, I'd try calling again.

Myself, I wouldn't depend on them calling me back.

Gave it another try and ... success!

Was a little scared after how fast tags disappeared last year.

Got mine for 69A. Hit redial from midnight through until 1:30 am on Monday morning to get through. There has to be a better way to do this.
