for the newbies wanting an excalibur

Post by dw »

seems like there are so many newbies looking for advice on which excalibur to get i thought i would run this poll again so they can see what we are using. if you own more than 1 excalibur just vote on the one that you like the most or use the most.

If I was to buy a new one I'd go with the phoenix. 175# is more than powerfull enough for anything in Ontario.

Yup, I own the Pheonix and it's pretty nice bow. Own a Vixen also.

Missed a few.

Mine is actually a 165 lb Exocet so I just voted for the 175 cause that was as close as I could get.

And I know there are a few wolverines around as well.

just sold my second exocet (fast flite-I am keeping my original which was the 1996 or so model with dacron only limbs)

Here is what I use

1) Hunting-an 04 Vixen deluxe with a Dan Miller horizontal bow quiver mount-

2) hunting backup-that old exocet with a standard mount

3) 3D Just got a new phoenix

4) indoor target-used a PB with australian cheekpiece and palm rest
Indoor 05-06 a new PB (machined riser) with a Mark H custom target stock (VERY NICE-he made it PERFECTLY)

I've got 3 Excaliburs, (225Max, 200Mag, 175Cet), and love them all. I use my Exocet for 3D, and it's going to be a toss-up between the Max and Mag for hunting.

exocet

Post by terry-1 »

I find the 175lb Exocet to be overkill on whitetail deer around my place. Last year I killed two wild hogs with one bolt after the bolt passed through the first one and then caught the second one also going in deep enough to kill it in less than 75 yard tracking job. Two for one thats a good deal so I would buy the Phoenix even though the Vixen is more than enough power for deer. The 200lb models are just to hard for me too string even with the excalibur stringer.
