The Phoenix

Post by Jim C »

I suspect this will be the all time most popular bow from Excalibur.

It handles very well, has more than enough power for all but the biggest beasts and is not ridiculously hard to cock

Jim C,
If I were picking a new crossbow from the selection available today it would be the Phoenix.
The only thing that I question is how hard it is to string by hand. I string my Exocet with the "foot in the stirrup, grab the limbtip, and lean over" method. With the new riser it sounds like you'd be adding about 25# to the effort required?

Phoenix Crossbow

Post by hawk44 »

just purchased one of the excalibur phoenix crossbows. i am disabled and month ago had to have extensive shoulder surgery. It is kinda difficult to cock with one arm and good ole brother Curdog furnished me with one of the cockaroo's that will help out tremendously. My point is, even though i just had the surgery on my left shoulder, i was able to cock the crossbow with one arm and some groaning and difficulty. Both my sons can cock it relative easy with the rope cocking device. As far as the phoenix goes, it is my first crossbow, put in alot of serious research before purchasing one and the phoenix definitely won out. Thanks to ALL that assisted me in my research.

I bought a phoenix to replace the 02 version of the exocet I used as a shop demo and 3D bow. I have a vixen deluxe for hunting. 150 is more than enough for hunting Ohio deer

I'll probably use the Phoenix instead of the Exocet this year. Accuracy wise there about the same for me.

This will be my first year to bowhunt - my second year of hunting.
I bought the Phoenix - My practice sessions since I bought it in June have been very rewarding - 2-3" hits on the target just about every shot.
