Hmm second thoughts

Post by TYE »

I'm having second thoughts. I think what I might do instead of buying a compound bow, is put a scope and fast flight string on my Pheonix and buy a camoflauge jacket. If I buy a compound I'll end up around $1000 without a jacket.

TYE, i'd say it's probably a little less $ to do that. And with gass prices as they are better to conserve.

You mean less money to go with the scope string idea rather than bow a compound?

I don't have to worry about gas prices...I don't drive yet. :P

TYE,
Just my opinion, but I'd go with setting up the Phoenix for the best performance, and invest a few $$$$ in good comfortable camo if you don't have it. A good compound, and all the accessories are going to be expensive, and the Phoenix will take care of all your hunting needs!

Didn't you just get the pheonix?
A compound will drive you crazy with all the tuning and tinkering and you have to keep practicing to be persistant.
I used one for years and gave up due to all the tuning and tinkering.

I think that's what I'm going to do. I think they have a couple Exomags sitting around at the local shop... I just might have to switch to one of those instead ;)

I'll have exactly enough money to buy a scope, jacket and blind I think.

Ameristep Doghouse $129.88 Before / $149.40 After Taxes (Bass Pro Shops)
Rocky 4in1 Parka Jacket $249.88 Nefore / $287.40 After Taxes (Bass Pro Shops)
Varizone Scope $119 Before / $139.90 After Taxes but I think he said it's exactly $119 for me to buy the scope and stuff, can't remember (At Local Shop)

Works out to around $570 something. or $518.30 if the scope is exactly $119.

That sound about right?

I think I might still do some shopping around.

I'm actually talking to BJ now :) HEHE I might buy a few things from him :)

I was just outside.... I shot from 40 yards with my fibre optic sights. First one was a little high cuz I forgot where my 40 yard mark was, then the next 2 were right in the circle. The circle is the same size as the bottom of a popcan. The 2 bolts were actually right up against eachother. When I shot I heard a SMACK and I was like OH NO I ROBIN HOODED, but I didn't, came close tho, lol. Then my 4th shot was right beside them about an inch and a half from them. Not too bad. I can't wait to get the scope... them deer are gonna be in some serious trouble this year :)

 Buy the scope for the Phoenix TYE! Better to stick with one type of weapon and practice with it until you achieve a high degree of proficiency than to invest in a new type of weapon. The compound is certainly no more effective a hunting tool than the crossbow, anyway.
