Ungava pictures

Post by stump »

Hope these pictures turn out, I'm still a techno-incompetent when it comes to posting pictures on this forum.
I just got back from a fishing/hunting trip to the Ungava region of Quebec. Two pictures are of the caribou I shot, the others are of the char, lake trout and speck I caught. The only thing wrong with the pictures is that someone my beard keeps showing up grey. Must be a flaw in the film.

You guys are spoiled!!!
You have aluminum boats. We roughed it in canvas covered wood boats that leaked like a sieve!

Stump, LUCKY YOU!!!!

With which outfitter did you go? Nice caribou (double shovel!) and great looking big fish!

Whereabouts was it? In order to get fish like that, that looked like a PRIMO spot! 8)

decree, sorry to hear about your boat problems, ours were awesome. 20 footers and over 7 feet wide. We caught so many lake trout we had to stop fishing for a while so we could enjoy the scenery.
Woodsman, we flew from Montreal to Kuujuuak and then took a float plane to the camp. The outfitter we booked with has just sold his business, and I wouldn't recommend the outfitter he sold to. There are a number of good outfitters that operate in the Ungava area, if anyone is interested shoot me a pm and I'll give you some more info.

I am green!! Those pics have me in la=la land. One day I will also go after caribou.

Congrats on the hunt!!

Just out of curiosity, what were the ranges that you shot your caribou at?

Mike, the steaks are in the freezer and there's a pack with your name on it. Chris, the same goes for you.
Chris4570, I took the first one at about 175 yards and the other at around 50 yards. They go down a lot easier than deer and when you shoot, the rest just stand there or run a very short distance. If you wanted to take a couple out of the same herd, you'd have no trouble.

Right On!... 8)

Thanks alot, Garry...:D

I'll be sure to put a package of moose steak aside for you IF we're successful...

I'd love to take my father on one of these hunting/fishing trips. He's always dreamed and talks about going on a trip like that before he leaves this world...

I've sent you a pm for prices and also which outfitter you would recomend in that area.

Thanks again!

Thanks G-man!

Wish I could have been there with ya. Looks like it was the trip of a lifetime. Maybe I can convince you to go up again in a few years.
