Little late for shed hunting aint it?

Post by Sandman »

Was poking around my newest property wondering if there were any bucks around and came across these~! The lone 1/2 of the 6 point has alot more mass than the 10. At least I now know that a couple of decent bucks have visited the area at some point~!

I have a question: Anters are pure bone, or so I've been told. They lay in the woods and mice and other ctitters gnaw on them. I have found dead buck skeletons in the woods, complete with gnawed antlers, but none of the other bones are ever gnawed on. Why?

I found a nice five point (one side) shed while turkey hunting and it was mint. Not a mouse or squirrel had touched it.
I hunt for memories, the meat's a bonus!

Antlers are sold while still in velvet. More weight or yummy fuzzy stuff I don't know for sure.
My father in law raises NewZeland red deer and all of his are cut while still in velvet.
