some pic's from the early goose season
Our early goose season opened on Sept 6th but I was laid up and couldn't get out .... One of the older gents in our group scoped out a field that the geese were feeding later in the week so we tried it out one morning .
Here are some pictures that one of our guys took from that day .
Sun coming up
A couple of shooting stations ...
The youngest guy in our group is introducing his 4 yr old son to this game early .... he also got some cool video ( you can see the camera mounted on the fence rail over his left shoulder ) his son left us howling with his commentary of the shots when we reviewed the video later that day
A truckload of Canada's .... the early season limit in our area was 8 each and 24 possession ...

Thanks guys ....
jmemphisguy : trust me ... it doesn't get boring ! .... as the season progresses the birds get pretty smart ! ..... it's always a challenge to scout , perfect your set-up , and sometimes it's a challenge to get permission on some properties ..... most farmers are pretty good since they realize how nuch the goose popualtion has increased and how damaging they can be to crops as well as the droppings they leave around home farm ponds etc. !
Don , Herbinator : Yep .... the kid will be a pro by the time he's able to get his licence !
Decoy Dan : Nope , no jewelery .... they were local birds . Never tried a short reid call ..... I use a long flute call .... my favorite is a custon flute call made by Ernie Kister .... it is made of Cocobola (sp ? ) wood .... it is a real work of art a marriage of art and function !
North2South : Those birds had probably eaten in St Agatha before we shortened their day ! .... we hunt that way alot ( Bamberg etc. )
