And if you think this looks labor intense, your right. Anyone that wants it this way in the future it will cost you extra.

So far so good. Only time will convince me to do it this way again. Terrible memory. :D

Anthony, you can PM me if your interested in a custom stock. I'd put it on here but the proper place would be the trading post.

Well its sanded to 60grit and as maple does it surprised me. The first spot I took the stain off and took a pic (above) turned out to be the best spot. The other cheek side uncovered nothing fancy. the front of the stock gave way to some lines that looked closer to splat figuring. This is why some woodworkers shy away from maple. Maple does anything it wants to do and you get what you get. And here is it rough sanded to 60grit.

Still needs to be sanded all the way to 320grit so the colors will mellow out a bit.

Aging, I'm not sure what you mean? Both sides look amazing! This really is an awesome thing to watch come to life.

That has to be very comfortable to hold with the hand and finger grips added.
I see what your talking about from one side to the other but that gives it its own characteristics.
Another Great Job !

Well after sanding it down to 150grit. Then staining it. Then sanding it from 60grit to 320grit. Then wetting it and sanding the fuzz off I can finally put the finish on it. I may never again do a stain and sand down because it is just to much. This finish drinking and bringing everything to life never gets old.

Going to let it drink till it can not drink another drop. That usually is five coats or till it is completely shiny. Then the wet sanding to get a low deep luster. :D

Wow that is amazing. Sorry for all that extra work but I must say that additional step really sets it apart. I love it!
