Good little xbow. I generally use the Vixen on Wild Boar and deer. Had complete pass-thru both on the hog and smaller deer. I don't have a scope on it, and won't likely put one on either. Factory sights are dead on at 25 yards. With no add-ons, the set-up is very light to carry to my tree stand. Will only put the Dan Miller quiver on. For a quick shot on a wounded deer, cocking by hand is easier and faster, for a second or third shot.
I had several incidences, where I came up on, or had a Black Bear follow me on a trail. Its sure nice to know in a situation like that, I can quickly load up the bow by hand in case mama bear gets protective. Several people have been attacked in our province by bears, I don't want to take that chance.

let me have your input on the Vixen
Spined a late season buck at 20yds with my Vixen Deluxe from my hang on tree stand last year. I cocked from my stand(twice) quite comfortably
and finished him off quickly. I lost 1 bolt and broadhead with the pass through but I,m glad I could load easily and safely in a stand . I don,t know if you could do this with a bigger bow.

Play Safe
The Vixen is very hard to beat as a 3d or deer hunting tool. I think I could easily load it in my tree stand.
A friend of mine was over yesterday with his Vixen and wanted to re -zero as he changed over to Thunderbolts from GT's. He was having a little trouble getting it to group. He says to me see if its me or the bow. Shoot the 1st arrow aimed at the target for the 2nd shot and bam Robin hood on his new arrow, just like the Swede did
.Then I said nope its you

I'm checking the thread I started and I sure want to thank everyone for their input. One more week of crazy, hot 12 hr. work week then I'm ready to make a move.
Over the last week since starting the thread I found out there is[was] a Deluxe model of the Vixen,[camo/dissp. bars] out there which looks to me to be equal to the Phoenix.
I'm anxious to put the excalibur to play and enjoy.I have been useing the same Horton for 19 yrs. now and it's like tossing an old dog aside for a fresh pup.

Well I bought, but I ended up getting the Phoenix.Shoots very well but I need to get aquainted with the stock which is longer than the Horton I've been useing.
Thanks everyone for taking time to give me input.I've got my trail camera out, putting time in practicing shooting the Excalibur and my Compound and I'm sure fall will come upon us soon.

I won't go into accuracy and how smoothe it shoots since that is well documented. However, this tidbit of information might interest you.
I have a 28 inch draw length with a compound bow. My last compound, a 70 pound draw model, was IBO rated at 315 fps. That is with nothing at all on the bow and a 350 grain arrow, and drawn 30 inches. In the real world I draw 28 inches, had a peep on the string, a nocking loop, and string leeches. I had limb savers on the limbs and on the limb bolt pockets. I shot a 440 grain arrow at 262 fps.
I have a 2005 model Vixen. I have the stock factory string, cat whiskers on the string, limb savers on the limbs, limbsavers on the limb pockets, and limb savers on the rail of the bow just below the string. The arrow that I shoot weighs an average of 444 grains. I am getting a consistent 260 fps. If you can do it with a really fast 70 pound compound, you can do it with the Vixen.

I never was as good as I used to be.
