Hate not to take sides, but it's hard to reach a conclusion without all the facts. It sounds bad from her side of it, but what's the other side of the story? We may never know.
I was a law enforcement officer for a brief time (about one year) before I decided on another line of work, and a lot of times a person's attitude can have an influence on the officer's actions. I can remember one traffic stop I made to give a warning for speeding, and when I walked up to the car the driver was very rude. He shouted "Just give me a damn ticket, I'm in a hurry!" It took me almost an hour to run a complete record check on him and his vehicle and to write the ticket he requested.

I agree with wabi. Not enough info to make a judgement. Just enough to start an uproar. Thats the medias job by the way and Im assuming thats how this story got out. I would also never rush to judge an officer on the word of someone who just got out of jail. Cash bounds are required in ga. for anyone who does not reside in a state that is a member of the violators compact act. That means not only Canadian but also U.S. citizens may be reqiured to follow the officer to the sheriffs dept. to post a cash bond. ( Posting the cash bond would be a deal breaker ) when it comes to being released and thats not mentioned. If she refused to pay the cash bond or take care of the fine that would result in a night in jail. Same thing happened to Andy and Barney if you remember the episode. If your counting on the sheriff's condemnation of the incident, you should remember most sheriffs now days are politicians and we all know how rock solid that makes them. Im not saying the girl should have spent 12 hrs. in jail. But I would need too hear the rest of the story. She says in the video the police officer did not even handcuff her. That sounds like just come with me and post a bond. Somethings missing in this story.

I've seen them happen and I've investigated them when I was a police officer and I've seen a lot worse. It still doen't excuse what happened to her.

Ive lost count but it sounds like we have alot of cops and ex-cops on this forum.

A.W. I appreciate you taking the officer out of the out of the dispute. I hope we can all remember the officers on the street face criticisim every day for doing the job they swore to do. The more criticisim the new guys hear the greater the chance they hesitate in a bad situation and get them selves hurt or even worse. Its easy to talk bad about law enforcement, just remember the kids on the street agreed to stand in harms way to keep everyone else safe. Support would be a nice change.
