Maybe the longest post ever, but certainly one of the most enjoyable, RJ.

Well it's about time R.J. LOL. Just kidding. I have been waiting and waiting on your update. Congrats on a nice bird. Looks like it had some nice spur length. I'll be back out Wednesday for a chance at one with the exomag.

What a way to start turkey hunting, you can bet that you won't always be that lucky. Although as R.J. informed me you both had to work for your birds.
Nice bow shot R.J. that is always a challenging shot.

There have been some great looking birds harvested from the many forum members in Canada and USA ... It is a great opportunity for us to get into the bush in the springtime ... looks like our Ontario release program from the 1980's did wonders !

Congrat's to all of you again .... have a great season ...

Good luck to all that are venturing out until May 31st ... I hope to get some cool action shots from now till then !

You mentioned that you engineered the termination of some grounhogs. I was wondering if you took any of them home for a meal? They are very good especially in the spring as they are lean after their hibernation.
If your interested, I will give you information as to the preparation

Once again, thanks for the assorted pictures, they are super.

I used to shoot a lot of groundhogs. Always thought it was a waste to just drop them back down the holes. A co-worker of mine at the time had eaten just about everything on four legs at one time or another so I approached him about how to cook them. He said he used to eat them but stopped. It came up in a conversation he had with some one from the MNR and they recommended he stop. He was told that MNR studies showed there was high levels of contamination in ground hogs from chemicals and fertilizers used in farming and high levels of bacteria from livestock waste run-off in the water groundhogs drink from. He even recommended you watch how you handle the carcasses after you shoot them. I guess if you watch the habitat where you shoot them it may be fine but it's something to think about for anyone inclined to eat them.
