I have shot 4 deer so far with the 250gr. shockwaves at ranges of 25yds to 100yds with 3 triple seven pellets and all were complete pass through shots, these have been a very accurate and good performer for me, although last year when they came out with the diferent sabot for this same bullet I think they call it superglide or something like that suposed to load easier, so I gave them a try and they were all over the place the sabot was just too slick and they would not engage the rifling well enough to shoot well for me so I went back to the regular style and my accuracy went back to groups of 1-1 1/2 inch groups at 100yds. My hunting buddy pretty well covered the price of Barnes when he said,
"I paid $30,000. for a hunting truck, $600. for a muzzleloader, have probably $1000. invested in hunting clothes, a small fortune in accessories, so why the heck would I complain about paying $1. for a bullet that works!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

As for accuracy, I have shot the expanders (the all copper one with the huge hollow point) out of many muzzleloaders and have found only one that doesn't really like them. Probably a change in sabots would get it to shoot them well, but it likes Hornady XTPs and they have worked for me in the past, too. I like the expanders, but my belief is that bullet placement is most important so if I use that muzzleloader I'll shoot XTPs.

I think I proved to myself this fall that the placement of the shot is top priority when I put a mechanical broadhead that didn't open through a deer's heart. Recovery distance was about the same as it would have been with any other broadhead on the market. I realize a bullet (or broadhead) can be a total failure on performance (a bullet can fail to penetrate, as yours apparently are), but there are several proven performers out there, so I pick the one that shoots the most accurately and hunt with it!

As for powders, I rate real black powder as #1 for consistant performance - Pyrodex as #2 - T7 as #3 - and the rest are too inconsistant to consider. I've tried a bunch of them and they might shoot great one day and the same powder out of the same can shoot poorly the next day. I tried APP this year and shot great groups when the humidity was low, and very poor groups the very next day when humidity was high. same gun, same bullets, same powder, humidity was the only change. :?

mine really likes the superglides.. I went to the plain superglide and not the bonded and im getting 2inch max groups at 100 yards. Hopefully the plain ones expand better than the bonded did for me

This afternoon I took a 7-pt with a 230-grain Hollow-point TC Surefire Sabot with 150gr 777. As I have seen previously the hollow point did NOT pass through on a 50yrd shot. It did do massive damager however and leave copious amounts of blood. The buck went about 40 yards and fell in sight.

I may give the TC Shockwave bullets a try in my ML next season. I would prefer to get a little more penetration than the Surefire hollow point is giving. I think I may be pushing the Surefire hollow point a bit too fast out of my 29" barrel.

I almost got the Boattails from barnes but like you, I wasn't exactly happy with the price, so I kept looking. This is where my memory gets foggy. I don't know how I figured it out but if you go to Cabelas for example and check out the bullets, you may notice that the Barnes bullets are exactly the same as the Knight bullets. I think Knight buys Barnes bullets, packages them with the Knight name then sells them. I wish I could remember what it was that proved it to me but I can't.
You are right about Knight using Barnes bullets in their sabot packages. I was watching Knight's Born To Hunt, and there was an ad for the Knight sabots, and they specifically stated the bullets were supplied by Barnes. In fact, the guy that owns Barnes was part of the commercial along with Knight's Tony Smotherman.
