If I remember correctly the guys here using suppressors have said that they do not loose speed. Makes sense to me because when the string passes the brace height mark it is decelerated rapidly, actually very rapidly. String travel beyond the brace height is very limited and it's inerta is being countered by the limbs pulling the string back. (oh my brain hurts from thinking about this!).navaman wrote:well, here's my question. i made a set of string suppresors for my vixen abd they quiet the bow down considerably. however as i sat in the shop this morning having the breakfast of champions (caffiene and nicotine) and looking at my sweet little vixen something occured to me. the string is no longer traveling the distance it did before the suppresor installation. i'm wonderering if i have lost velocity? how 'bout one you seasoned hands giving me some feedback. i'd really appreciate it.

If you want a real quiet bow, the best and only solution is to use a set of good "earplugs".
