solunar tables
I rely strictly on tarot cards and horoscopes to determine large buck movement.
I have determined that the movement of the moon matters little to mature bucks. The only time they like to move is when it is dark and they can see the moon!
Of course that all goes out the window when they get horny.
After all, they are male.

I'm inclined to be with Mike P on this one. Animals move around in order to feed or to breed. I'm a doubter that moon phase would dull an animal's appetite, either for food or sex. I'll keep an open mind and if someone can point me to a serious, science based study that settles the matter, I'd be glad to read it.Mike P wrote:I rely strictly on tarot cards and horoscopes to determine large buck movement.

"Gun Control Laws"--trying to nag criminals into submission.
At first glance i'm inclined to agree. However the moon is responsible for the tides. To think that it moves the weight of oceans and holds them until it moves them again. That's a huge influence on our planet. To think that a force that powerful is limited to only moving water seems wrong. That does not mean that it's true. But it does warrant investigation. That's why I try to beware of these times verse when i see deer and why i ask others there thoughts as well.

I went out yesterday morning and saw nothing. This morning two doe came in at 8:45a.m. and I saw a 8-10 point buck cross the road as I was leaving at 10:40a.m.(I have to quit hunting at 10:00 a.m. on the property I hunt, during Oct.).
According to the tables I use, both days are suppose to be about the same. According to my experience, today was much better, eh?
I kind of like looking at the tables for fun. However, I hunt every chance I get regardless of what the tables say about my chances.

I'd rather wear out than rust out.

I regularly check the times using my GPS, wrist watch or the tables mentioned. Over the years I have noticed more deer movement during the peak hours listed. Do I use then to determine wheter I hunt or not- NO. But I will use them to adjust the times I am in the stand. If it is a late morning or early afternoon feed I may stay longer or arrive earlier that particular hunt. Bottom line is "You can't kill them from the couch", hunt whenever the opportunity allows you to.
