Yes, and no.. I hate those answers..one shot scott wrote:Pydpiper: you said you had a leg/arm strap. Do they work while your walking as well?
They recommend that you do not wear the unit while it is turned on, but I think that is just a liability thing, considering it is designed to do just that.
Also, it is noisy to to ignite, it is a fairly solid "click", when you push the igniter, so it is best to do it at the truck before you get to your spot.
Now the "no" part.. While it isn't likely to set you on fire while you walk it will not be terribly effective (although it still kinda works), it is a scent operated unit, so as you walk you are constantly leaving the scent behind you. Same thing with using it in a breeze, set it up wind and it will be more effective.

I get a few hunts out of one, they last longer than you would expect. The blue pads start to lose color and turn white around the edges as it depletes. The cells last longer than the pads though, if I recall it is about 3 pads to 1 cell by their portions, I get 4 or so.
I keep an extra cell and 4 pads with the unit, in the pockets of the carrier.
My Thermacell is an odd camo, my case is green. I see there is a Real tree Case now, so mine may soon be up for sale.

Anyone want a free Thermacell? Yep, Winchester Ammunition is giving them away. All you have to do is buy some turkey loads and they will send you a free unit. Here's a link to the offer:

Now, to save on the fuel cells, go to Walmart and look in the hair dryer area and you will find these:

I paid $6.69 per pack for mine. Now if I could find a way to get the pads cheaper........ I have to say that for what a unit cost and full price for the refill pack, it's well worth the investment.

I take my pad back off the unit and put it in a zip loc bag I get 3 or 4 hunts out of it depending on the length of the hunt.
I have sent them several E Mails about making one with a silent turn on switch instead of the click, click, click
