Thanks for all the kind comments. I don't think persistence is the right word, though. More like just sheer stubbornness. I've shot under deer, over deer, had arrows deflected, etc. Any way you could possibly mess it up I have. Finally had everything come together and it was amazing. Got so excited I don't even remember pulling the trigger. Just all of a sudden the arrow was sticking out of the deer and he was running. I've always heard if you don't see them go down to wait 30 minutes before you start trailing them and all I can say is 30 minutes is FOREVER. I got my cell phone out and checked it because I thought my watch had stopped. I've got larger deer on the wall but I don't know if the excitement level can match the first deer with a bow.

Congrats on the xbow first kill. That first with the bow will always be remembered. Now you can expect more with that Excalibur.
