I started out with aluminum switched to carbons then back to aluminum easton 2216s both the carbons and the aluminums will shoot very well but the carbons can break and or shatter and I don't want that in my deer meat it can make you very sick if you injest it if aluminum bends or breaks it just bends or breaks

The arrow-like projectiles of a crossbow are called bolts. These are much shorter than arrows, but can be several times heavier. There is an optimum weight for bolts to achieve maximum kinetic energy, which varies depending on the strength and characteristics of the crossbow, but most could pass through common chain mail. In ancient times the bolts of a strong crossbow were usually several times heavier than arrows. Modern bolts are stamped with a proof mark to ensure their consistent weight. Bolts typically have three fletches, commonly seen on arrows. Crossbow bolts can be fitted with a variety of heads, some with sickle-shaped heads to cut rope or rigging; but the most common today is a four-sided point called a quarrel. A highly specialized type of bolt may be employed to collect blubber biopsy samples used in biology research.

20" Beman Thunderbolt w/ carbon moon nocks grinded flat. Tipped with 125gr Wasp Hammer SST's. One tough arrow/broadhead combo!

I tested it thoroughly when I had my Phoenix. I blasted through steel plates.

One time I shot it through plywood and it blasted through the plywood, through my block, through the aluminum shed door, through a plastic milk crate, clipped a dolly (those things for moving fridges etc.) and through the back of the aluminum shed and stuck halfway up the broadhead into a log in the wood pile behind the shed. Sure glad it stopped before the neighbors yard but holy smokes once I found the damn arrow the only damage to the broadhead was a slight nick on one blade. The point was still sharp and the other two blades could still shave my thumb nail. Now that's what I call a tough broadhead!!!

Let's just say my dad wasn't to impressed about the shed... But he switched and is still shooting those same broadheads with the Vixen.

Carbon Express Maxima Hunters. They are much less delicate than Gold Tips and are a weight forward shaft.

The only come as an assembled arrow. Mine are all stripped so they weight 275 without fletchings and inserts installed. BTW, I've never had a front insert come loose even after pounding through plywood and being hammered back again.

Once you go Carbon Express you won't go back!

Well I have only shot their arrows not their bolts but I'm sure the bolts are just as good.
