I've got a couple of questions. Whats the tag on the antler about ? And what exactly is "The Rut" ? Maybe its a silly question, but I know nothing about hunting in the different states over there and want to learn a little more.

Hey Dash---greetings from Canada----In Canada-Ontario-- the tag on the antlers is to show particulars of the deer[when it was shot day, month , time of day and who the licenced
hunter was that shot the deer]. In Ontario this year the tag was Blue--as you can see in some pictures.
Now for THE RUT--It is usually the prime breeding season for deer--and the bucks are less
cautious of there surroundings--and only have breeding on their minds; and sometimes
can be fooled more easily.--------Hope this helps.
