Nah. If you look close at your rail you will see there is one side that is wore more than the other (just the anodizing), it shows as a silver finish up one side of the groove. That is the limbs showing a minor imbalance, one is pulling slightly harder than the other forcing the arrow to one side or the other, very normal. That minor wear is what is making the smell, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it.
The nock is softer than the rail, you will see the wear on the nock long before the rail. Have a close look at a well used arrow, you'll see. :D
I just wish the smell came in a bottle.
Thanks for the great explanation ! That was exactly the info I was looking for. Was wondering what the silver stuff is. The new Axiom SMF should not smell any more and if it does it might be serious , i.e. rail on fire :D

Some smells I enjoy are hoppes #9 , a freshly fired shot shell , and bear with me the first trace of skunk scent when it is barley noticeable from along way off a strong skunk scent is offensive but a trace I like weird I know :oops:

We used to load arrows with alittle dash of black powder and stick a small insert with a primer glued to it,,and behold,,,RAMBO!!! not to mention the holes in the targets,,wow..and you didn't hear this from me,, :lol:
