Congratulations
I know I'm terrible with a shot gun, but dont get in the way of my muzzleloader with irons sights.

Just curious why you would choose a buckshot over a slug? Get's debated all the time and slugs usually come out on top 9 outta ten times. Good shootin on the second shot, congrats.

Good job Terry!

I've had them jump the bullet before . . .just saying . . .it can happen . . .

Congrat's Terry !

Slugs for me ! ... I've seen too many wounded deer over the years , due to buck shot .

I have lots , of SSG , 00B , 000B , but only good out of full choke at 30 yards max , IMHO

i think the biggest reason is i'm not worth a darn with a shotgun .not to blow my horn but have made shots with a rifle my buddys can't believe .just don't get the lead right with a shotgun.i think moni said slugs are a clean miss or a hit. i do need to pattern the slug barrel and see where the problem is

There are a lot of places where buckshot is not legal to hunt deer with around here. I've seen it used frequently down south (Arkansas) and have taken a couple deer with it when running dogs.

I don't like buckshot just for the blood trail it leaves or rather the lack of a blood trail. The shot can be as large in caliber as a rifle, but don't have the shock. I've seen a doe get peppered with buckshot and run 150 yards with little blood at all. I've also seen a single #1 buckshot (.30 cal) hit a doe in the eyeball and killed it but not after it ran more than 150 yards. We were lucky to find it.

Nice job with the anchor shot.

When it comes to archery,(vertical bow) my husband used to say "You miss more deer than most people ever SEE!" He is the only one I confess my misses to.

Only once with the handgun tho.

Someday I will tell you the story of the fine 6 point I missed this year with my crossbow..........at 3 yards!!!

I was never impressed with buckshot either until I got some Hevi Shot 00 to shoot some coyote with. Patterned it in my Valmet and it will put all the pellets on a paper plate at 50 yards. Later that year I shot a doe at 40 yards and it was dead right there. I am using a Carlson Improved Modified choke. I'll never shoot lead buckshot again. The Hevi Shot is a huge leap in performance over lead and gave great penetration.
