Nice shot and gun too. Clean and oil that baby before you put it away.

Had a bunch that I've missed in the past. This was the 3rd one I've hit. First one I hit just hard enough to knock down and get the mud off my bumper. The second one was a doosey! That one flew back, hit the windshield, and flew on over the top of the car.

Guess I was lucky that this was a 6 month old deer that I hit and not very big. Plus, the damage to the truck could have been a heck of a lot worse than it was. As it is, it just looks like the plastic spoiler under the bumper is all that's busted. That piece holds the fog lights and the housing/lens for one of those is missing, but the wires and bulb are still there.

Gonna call the insurance company tomorrow and see about what all they want to do with it. About time that full coverage insurance paid for itself.

Congratulations on your nice doe and thanks for the pics and story. The road kill could have been so much worse.

Thanks again folks! As far as the blood trail, that's why I like the .54 cal. Even with a sabot, the bullets are a half inch wide (0.500"). Plus they're 325 grains. Overkill? Yep! But I'm all about the overkill. If I shoot at it, I want every advantage I can get. Kinda' the same reason I got an Equinox. Biggest baddest beast Excal makes.

Actually, it was more of bumper - deer butt collision.

As for the squirrel, I take no prisoners! Our squirrel season doesn't go out until Feb. 28th, so I've still got a couple of months of chasing the "buck-toothed horde of the forest".

Thanks for the congrats Tara! :D It wasn't with the Excal, but still pretty close since it was with a smokepole.
