Try turning the speed ring to faster speed to zero in at 50 yards then go back and adjust for 20 yards using the height adjustment. This has worked for me, I find some days I shoot better than others.

I think the two things are going on here.

First, you need to dial in the speed ring, remember, it is for reference only, it is not calibrated for actual speed. The method described will pin point the exact setting to your farthest distance.

Second, the Gold Tips may not have enough spine for your setup.

What length arrow are you using? Seems you have a good amount of weight up front. Remember, action / reaction! If you're plowing that much weight when pushing the arrow, the spine gives some. The heavier the front, the more resistance. This would not make you hit high repetitively, but lend itself more to inaccuracy altogether.

First of all welcome.

Next contact Jerry at South Shore Archery to make you up some arrows. Zombies or tapps. I use zombies for my matrix 405 and love them. Tell jerry what you are shooting and ask him his opinion. He makes top shelf arrows but has about a 10 day wait. So I would get on the phone and give him a call.

Best of luck. And oh I had same problem with GT's then I met zombies and problems were gone.

Give Jerry a call at South Shore Archery #813-545-0754 and order you a half doz, you should get them within 14 day's. Even though this is the busy season. Sounds like you have a arrow problem. And he is the man to get you back in the bull's eye...

Buy some BEEs off Ebay. I shoot both Ebay Bees and custom made Spynal Tapps from South Shore Archery and both hit within a 1/4" of each other out to 50 yards which is farthest distance I have shot.

Called Jerry this morning, he's going to fix me up with some of his arrows. After talking with him, he seems to think the GT's are the problem (spine to weak and not indexed), like everyone here suggested. Anyway we will see, thanks to everyone for responding to my post. Al

I have dealt with gold tips for 3d archery for years now the only advice i can give you on any gold tip is to cut 1 inch off the back end then cut your length from there they will be true that way i have done that for years and have great success im new to the crossbows so i dont know if u can buy raw crossbow shafts and cut them to the length you need ... but the guys on here know there stuff and i know the black eagles work great and u want be dissapointed good luck and good shooting

Okay, while waiting to get my arrows from Jerry I went ahead and indexed my GT arrows. One is absolutely junk, will not group any where close with the others. The rest of them are grouping pretty good. Now back to my scope issue, dead on at 20, dead on at 30, top of bullseye at 40, about 3" high at 50. Shot it at a ranged 73 yrds just to see if it continued to raise, held 70 yrd pin dead center and shot 3 arrow group, about 6" high. Went back to bench, held between 60 and 70 pin and at least was in about a 8" bullseye. I don't understand why it continues to shoot higher and higher as the distance increases. Everything is tight, brace height is 1/4" off bumpers and shooting off a bench. The scope is a Hawke 1.5-5 IR, (the second one), had same problem with the first one. Tech at Hawke thought I was crazy, told me there was no way possible for the scope to be on at 30,40 yrds and shoot that much higher at longer yards. Anyone else have similar problems or have any advice.

Did you follow the instructions, or are you using the common guess what speed it is method?

Yes sir, I have followed the directions to the tee, also did everything the Hawke tech told me to do, like I said this is my second scope with same issues. What am I missing, use turrets to sight in dead on at 20, use speed ring to sight in at 30, 40 or wherever. I think I am about rady to put the varizone back on and forget about the Hawke.

If you're hitting higher out at those distances, you need a higher speed setting on the scope, are you maxed out?
