Monday Morning's Success....

I commend you Kory for a well placed shot, but most experienced hunters know that you are taking a huge gamble by shooting an animal where you did.The margin for error is too great. It goes without saying that the broadside or quartering away shot is ideal. We owe it to the game we hunt to make the best killing shot or let them go to be hunted another day.If a hunter hunts long enough, he will probably one day have an animal get away on him and the feeling is terrible i know.Things happen sometimes that are out of our control. With that said,i again congratulate you on a nice wall hanger buck.

Is that neck wound from the arrow? Reminds me of the deer I wounded last year, as far as shot placement. A very sickening feeling. If that is the wound I would say you were quite fortunate, probably severed the jugular vein. I know that when the adrenaline starts pumping we often do things when we shouldn't, even if we know it is wrong. All I can say is the frontal shot on a deer offers a very low percentage killing shot and a very high percentage wounding shot, once again from experience. I'm not trying to take anything away from your success, my hats off to you, just don't want you to think that future shots at this target will bring such favourable results.
