Oh well…so much for Yogi and Booboo!
Congrats on the success!
I wish we had a Spring season in NH…I have a huge Bruin that frequents my property trying to get at my hanging feeder. I think he’s actually too fat to climb…is that possible? I wish I could post videos here…
When you skin out that critter, if you have time, I would appreciate you showing us a photo of the exit wound, skin side. Also, I can't tell if the broad head suffered any damage in your photo. I sure am curious about that...not that there should be any criticism of the broadhead, even if it was damaged. It did its job, amazingly well. I'm just pondering about how well those broadheads might work on heavier boned game such as elk or moose. There's sure no doubt about how well they worked here!
"Gun Control Laws"--trying to nag criminals into submission.
Hi5, we have already discussed the use of the SWAT on Elk and Moose in a PM last yr. I would not hesitate to use them on Elk as noted earlier.
Below is the SWAT MOAB in red and XMAG recovered on this hunt .One back blade on the XMAG was bent requiring replacement to function again.
The MOAB head was not damaged and can be reused .
They way I see it one bent blade out of 8 and two bears down under 30 y is impressive!
The hide reflects the same 2" x 1 3/4" noted hole

It was so hot yesterday we were just rushing to get them skinned down and in the chiller and forgot to snap pics of the entrance and exits. But the holes in the rib cages basically looked the same as the lung, perfect cross
The MOAB, which was the head that went through the lung above, has a screw you can remove to allow the front blades to pivot on a solid contact. I have no experience on Elk, but I would think they would be OK. Moose, I'm of the fixed head mentality for moose. I think Norm pretty much nailed it
