Riser Question

Post by Farmer »

Does anyone know if just anew style angled riser be bought from Excalibur ???. It would be nice to be able to increase or decrease draw weight and use the same bow..

I've gotten cast risers from bj to make up extra prods, he may have machined ones, I'd give him a call.

Bill T offered to sell me one of the new angled parts a month or so ago.......but the quoted price was $125!!!! Can't see paying $125 for the part when the price difference between the Exocet 175 and Exocet 200 was only about $50............just didn't seem right to me and it still irritates me......I would have been glad to pay the difference in cost between the Exo 175 and 200 ($50) or even a bit of a premium because it's a part......but I don't believe I'll voluntarily bend over and be gouged for $125!!!

Proof is in the pudding!!!

I took my old Exocet down to Ottawa Archery.
The guys were good enough to take the new riser off a Phoenix and the cast riser off my Exocet.

The moment of truth.......the new riser fits the old Exocet, perfectly!

Must be a metric thing up here in Canada.

Regardless, my dad will end up with a new Pheonix (around 150 lbs), i will end up with something a little less than an Exocet 200.

When someone actually buys a new riser as an aftermarket item let me know, until then my new stock from Mark or a tee and sweat will be my next Excalibur upgrade.

Ok Vince as you say Proof is in the pudding!!!

I tried it again after reading your post here, If the New Riser fit your old Exocet perfectly I would sure like to know what they did....My close up is not that good and I will try later for a better one, but the new riser is 1/16" to narrow to fit my Exocet or Exomag 185LB rail.

The proof is in the picture.... :? Would sure like to know how they done it.... If you look close at the top you can see the new riser is set in by 1/16"

Vince look at your riser's and see if they are sitting flat, look stright down from the stirrup and make sure your riser's are not cocked too one side. Could just be the two I have are slightly wider then norm. :D Could also be the machining tolerances as 1/16" is not that much. Glad it worked out for ya.. :D

Hey Gary

Your right Gary!
1/16'' tollerance is not that much, as a matter of fact that is really close!
For a Welder! Pretty huge for a Machinist!

Hi GaryL,

Those are great pictures and I see what you mean about that 1/16" difference.

At this end, they didn't do anything special, simply swapped risers and tightened everything down.....both xbows are shooting typical Excalibur groups!!!!!

As a footnote: it would be interesting to see if there is a limb pocket difference between a cast and machined riser.

Hi Vince, I have swapped out the limbs on the Exocet from carved tip to mag tip and they fit fine. I also changed the limbs on my Wolverine from carved to magtip with no problems. Not sure if thats what you mean or not. It's been fun playing around with the different combos and sure would have liked to see what my 185LB Exomag would have shot like with the New Riser, would have give me around 210LB for what I think would give me a smoother trigger pull then the 225LB Max.... :D

Hey GrayL! have you ever noticed a difference in sound vibration between the old cast riser and the new machined riser?
