Made the decision a couple years ago..........
had one at under 20 yards, blue head but it had a nice beards showing, so it was a legal bird.
I can tell you from experience - bearded hens are good eating, too. :wink:

not all that many turkeys where i hunt so I would let her go, in hopes that she would raise some young.

took the coures a few years back...they said a bearded hen would weigh about 8lbs...so i'd hold out if i could ...but also i'm limited to 2 to 3 days of turkey hunting a year ....

had a bearded hen in range in the first week last year,and let her walk,made the right call as I took a 23 and a 19 lb pair of gobblers later on.Too many nice gobblers where I hunt To consider taking one but maybe a tough decision the last week if I have been skunked so far.

yes indeed I would and have the first turkey I ever shot was a bearded hen. In ohio a bearded hen is legal and tasty M&M
