Ninepointer your not sturring the pot, you have a good question. I agree with you that in Ontario during legal shooting times you will probually not have any problem finding the crosshairs on a deer. But what if your not hunting DEER ........ but hunting Moose or Bear with their BLACK HAIR against the black crosshairs IT is at these times the lighted reticle would more then make up for the extra size and weight.

I love my Varizone, but in shooting 3D this year I've noticed a few times when I couldn't see my crosshairs very well. Sometimes it's just the slant of light coming toward me, sometimes it's a dark target in deep shade (the bears, turkeys, & boars are bad for that). Still, I believe that the eye naturally finds the centre of the circle through the scope and if I screw up the shot it's more likely that I've pulled it or misjudged the distance.

In a hunting situation I would just hold off and wait for better shot (being a woman that not hard to do  ). At the 3Ds where waiting isn't an option we're shooting only shooting at foam so I'll chance the shot.

I just got my lumizone and am anxious to put it on the equinox. At my age I want every advantage I can take. I won't be getting as many chances as you young pups. I'm shooting a red dot now and drilling quarters at 30 yds. If the Lumi weighs 19 oz. what does the varizone weigh?
